The Laken Hope Foundation supports existing organizations that promote safety awareness for women, aid and tuition assistance for nursing students, and children's healthcare. These were all causes that Laken felt strongly about and she held near and dear to her heart. Laken Riley was a student at Augusta University after attending UGA, where she was studying to become a nurse. Laken was a wonderful friend, sister, daughter, and faithful follower of Christ; who touched the lives of everyone around her. Her infectious smile and contagious laugh lit up every room she entered. She was a sweet and compassionate soul whose life was sadly cut short on Thursday, February 22, 2024. Laken's untimely death was both avoidable and tragic. Our ultimate goal is to promote safety awareness and prepare women in the event they are ever in danger. |
We will be holding a 1 hour and 15 minute Self-Defense course immediately following the 5K (around 9:30) that morning. The self defense experts at Pure Krav Maga will be teaching basic and practical self defense skills and techniques. It's an additional $5 to attend. If you'd like to be a part of that, there is an option at registration for the 5K to register for the self defense class. |
